You mentioned that there are two brick walls in the way. Are they literally
brick walls? Don't forget that most US houses are timber framed with
plasterboard walls as are most modern British houses. My house has two foot
concrete walls & wireless certainly won't work through a couple of my solid
walls. I have all but given up on using wireless here unless it is line of
sight. Half the time I find 100Mb Ethernet too slow when copying files between
machines so prefer to put up with wires running around the house. I think that
the claimed specifications for wireless are hopelessly optimistic both for
distance, wall penetration & actual bandwidth.
