Thanks Barb. The MCE machine's Event Viewer shows no entries at the time of
the failure I just recreated. The last relevant entry was 'device
successfully affiliated'. 20 seconds later it failed to play a protected
song (played it on the 2nd attempt although I have also had repeated
failures on previous attempts tonight which would not play back at all). No
failure events.

The Linksys Router log shows nothing for incoming (it is enabled) and just
the following for outgoing around the time of the failure:

The protected content is all paid-for tracks downloaded from MSN Music UK --
various Pop and RnB artists downloaded over the past few months and today.
Every single track gives the errors message at least once.

I tried also disabling the firewall on the Router and the error still
occurred.

I hope this helps you help me :) I appreciate you giving up your time on
this fairly important issue.
