You got it (there is a graphics driver but no tuner driver).

Other people are dealing with it, mostly, by not using ATI products in
MCE systems, AT ALL, with the sole exception of the "e-Home Wonder"
(which I would STRONGLY recommend avoiding as well). In other words, as
you put it, they are trashing their ATI cards (well, "All-in-Wonder"
cards) as far as using them with MCE is concerned.

Kind of sucks, doesn't it?

The reason here is that MCE was designed for tuner cards whose output,
directly and in hardware, is MPEG, while ATI's cards (except for the
e-Home Wonder) all have straight (uncompressed) digital video output.
Thus, they really are not suited to the underlying design philosophy of MCE.

[I left out the HDTV Wonder as an exception. My mistake. But many of
the people who have tried the e-Home wonder have found it
unsatisfactory, primarily due to the ATI software support for it.]

Now I'll back off just a bit and tell you that there are some
non-Microsoft, non-ATI software "kludge" solutions that simulate what
MCE needs in software and that do work with some of the ATI AIW cards.
In my view this is not a clean or satisfactory solution, but for some
cards, it does exist as an option. I don't have a link, but with some
searching, you may be able to find it.

I do want to reiterate, having tried both the e-Home wonder and the
Hauppauge 150MCE card, that I think that you will likely be a LOT
happier with the Hauppauge card as your tuner (not only does the
software installation actually work, but the video picture quality is
higher). For video, the ATI cards are fine (I'm using a Radeon 9600
myself -- not an AIW, but just a Radeon 9600 video card), but the ATI
tuner solutions (with the two exceptions) just don't support MCE.
