I'm now onto my second Media Center PC.

Last year I had the HP m380.uk media center. This PC came with a Hauppauge
card which only had an s-video input. As noted previously my set-top box does
not output s-video but only outputs composite video. When I set up the
m380.uk, if I selected s-video 1 , I got a black and white picture. When I
selected composite video-1 I got a colour picture. Note I connected my
set-top box using a scart to s-video adapter and an s-video cable to the
tuner card - but had to select composite video 1 to get a colour picture.

Now with my new HP m1180.uk media center, the tuner card has both s-video
and composite video inputs. If I remember correctly (did this a few weeks
back), when I connect the same s-video cable to s-video 1, I get NO picture.
If I connect using composite video 1, I get a colour picture.

The problem is with the set-top box which does not output s-video as noted
previosuly. I would guess that somehow the old Hauppauge card has composite
video going through the s-video input, which explains what happened to me
last year and is happening to you now.
