I'm trying to understand how best to design my home media network. Basically
I'm interested in streaming music and pictures stored on my main home
computer which is currently running XP SP2. I'd like to distribute my music &
pictures to the TV in our family room as well as to one in the basement which
also has an XBOX attached to it. So in order to use the XBOX extender it
requires a Media Center PC. In order to "upgrade" my existing PC I *think* I
need to add/replace my video, plus add a TV tuner even though I'm not
interested in the TV features of MCE. In the living area (where there is no
XBOX) I'd presumably use a media extender such as D-Link or Linksys. My
understanding is that these use Media Connect and based on some posts is not
compatible with MCE. Please help me out by confirming or correcting my
understanding here and suggesting viable approaches to take.
