Microsoft, it appears, has broken the S3 standby mode
with their latest release of MCE 2005, and it looks as
though it has something to do with the eHome keyboard
keys driver.
Everyone is talking about it on every newsgroup I have
been on. S3 Standby mode worked great in MCE 2004 before
the upgrade, and now the best standby mode you can get on
the PC is S1 (which leaves all the fans running).
Supposedly their are Registry hacks and this Dumppo.exe
program that help (system dowsn't always return to
standby mode though) but I think microsoft needs to
release a software patch and fix this issue once and for
all!
Common on Microsoft, fix your software. We need a fix
ASAP! These are Media PC that need to record programs
throughout the day. The PCs need to have the ability to
turn themselves on and off accordingly. And with this
latest MCE 2005 software release this ability was taken
away. This is unacceptable behavior and it should be
fixed and something release on the website stating that
you have heard the copmpliants and you are working on a
fix.
