Hey Group

I am having a problem with the Media Extender not playing back video files,
that do playback fine on the media center PC itself

I make my own Movies DVD's (no encryption /region Free) I RIP these to my
hard drive in folder format c:\my-videos\name-of-video\Video_ts
this folder contains *.IFO *.VOB *.BUP files.. I go under "my video's" on
the media center... add the folders and the video's playback with no
problems (I assume it's using the Nvidia Mpeg-2 codec)

If I go to the Media extender ...under "my videos" I see the actual folders
, but if I click on one.. the video won't playback.. if I try to select the
video preview window and hit "play" on the remote I get a "video error"
you need to either restart the media center or the extender" I've used the
media extender Diag tool and network connectivity is fine (I Can view "Live
TV" so video is ok... Slide show photo's and music stream fine.. ) so I
know video is ok streaming wise... I was told the Media Extenders supported
MPEG-2 playback (at least that's what it says on the Box) or do I need to
convert this DVD format I have created to a single Mpeg-2 file.. if so How
do I do this and still keep the DVD menu's I've created?

2nd issue
I don't have a DVD Player in my living room (having a DVD player in my
Living room would violate the recently ratified 2004 WAF standard - aka:
Wife Acceptance Factor :->) so the idea was to install an actual DVD into
the DVD drive of my PC then on the media Extender select "play DVD" and
stream it into the living room.. the only problem is that "play DVD" is
not avail on an extender.. if I attempt to "share out" the DVD drive on the
PC, Then go under "my video" and select "add video" it doesn't appear as
an shared drive..

if neither of these options is avail.. I guess I'm not seeing the
fundimental reason why "my video's" folder exists or is an option on the
media center if it can't playback video files

thanks
Kevin
