I'm actually very happy having gone away from Tivo.
The cost is no different, since what I pay for a second tuner is the same
thing I paid for my Tivo service (<$5 / month). Bonus is the extra channels
you get when you have a second tuner turned on. They add a few channels that
aren't part of the normal package I'm on, such as NASA and such.
Only one remote, my MCE remote. I needed the satellite remote only during the
setup of the tuners in the MCE shell. once that was done, I only have the
single remote.
MCE automatically jumps from receiver to receiver as needed. If I have a
recording going, it simply starts it on whatever receiver is active
apparently. Then if I try to change channels, rather than the normal "you're
recording, are you sure..." question it used to give with one tuner, it
simply switches and goes to the channel on the second tuner.
So far it's working incredibly well, and I'm totally satisfied having moved
from my DirecTivo unit.
Anyone want to buy a slightly used DirecTivo unit cheap? ;)
