This question should be posted elsewhere. But to answer your question, you
could create a username/password on the 2000 system that matches what you are
using on the XP system so that you don't have to manually supply credentials
every time.
Alternatively Windows XP Pro allows you to store credentials for your other
networked systems; go to Control Panel, User Accounts, select your user name,
and in the left hand side panel select "Manage My Network Passwords." Add
the credentials you want to use to access the Windows 2000 system's shares.
Note that I was disappointed to find that MCE 2005 does not allow you to add
credentials to the list.
