You don't say if you're running XP Pro or Home. You also don't say if this if for an Administrator level user, or the built in Administrator account.

For Pro: At the Welcome screen, with no users logged on, press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice. You'll get the older Win2K style logon. Enter Administrator and any password that you may have set for this account during install. If in doubt, leave the password blank.

For Home: Boot the computer into Safe Mode. The built in Administrator account will appear on the Welcome Screen.
