I'm trying to watch DVR-MS files that were recorded on my Media Center PC in
the living room, on my system in my home office. This works fine as long as
I watch it on my 'primary' monitor. If I try to watch it on my secondary
monitor, it shows blank. I've tried everything I can think of - stopping &
restarting, toggling flags, all to no effect.
If I change my secondary monitor to my primary monitor through the display
settings screen, the problem reverses itself - so it is not a hardware
limitation.
This is happening on a system separate from the Media Center PC that
recorded the video in the first place. I've copied the file locally, as
well as viewed it over the LAN.
I've tried this on several different computers (home and office) - all show
the same symptoms, despite having different video cards and monitors.
I'm using Windows Media Player 10 (and had the same problem under WMP 9).
This problem is starting to drive me nuts - I just want to watch tv / videos
on my second monitor while I work on my main one! My guess is that
Microsoft has been kind enough to disable this functionality for some DRM
based reason...
Anyone have any suggestions (short of buying a Media Center Extender and TV
for the office)? Thanks! - Eric.
