 I can assure you that Microsoft is indeed aware of this issue. It's quite
possible that the folks answering the phone are not aware of this, but the
dev team is aware.

 Can you check that the registry keys mentioned below exist on your system?
Please only do this if you are comfortable with the registry. We don't want
to make things worst by playing with the registry, but if you are
comfortable to look, I'm curious to see if the changes described in my
earlier post were done on your system.

 My HP873n is also one of the first MCE machines. I have upgraded it to
MCE2004 last year. I applied SP2 and that broke My Music. I did some
install / uninstall of WMP9 to try to fix it but that failed. Then I
applied the HP patches and re-installed SP2 and it worked... I can't
honestly recall if I had to do some more WMP9 install / uninstall tango but
that might be something worth trying as well... the key is to finish with an
installed WMP9 of course. :)

 Let me know how these things go... I'm still digging to try to find a
common breaking point and hopefully a solution.
