Hi Val,
It does looks like the HP registry patch works fine for the HP (and some
non-HP?) machines.... so I think you are probably safe by first applying the
patch and then applying SP2. In the vast majority of cases where SP2 caused
problems, uninstalling or reverting back fixed the problem so it should be
pretty harmless to try. But of course, we all know that there are always
risks.
