GTJimBob,
That's the most common problems with windows these days, and in the
development world is known as "dll hell". We are supposed to get rid of all
these problems with .net in the future.
Cleaning your system the way I suggested is dangerous if you don't know
exactly what you are doing, so be careful to re-install the OS of you do
something wrong. back up your stuff, documents, serial numbers, downloadable
versions of anything you've purchased etc.

these days, but I'd do what I can to get you up and running.
BTW, I still don't think this is the patch which caused this, although you
may well prove me wrong.
Have you installed SP2 by any chance? If you haven't, I encourage you to do
it.
