    i had a similar expierience, i got the zd7000 MCE for the value, and was a
    little taken aback when i figured out that is was a separate box. but i got
    to thinking, my tv connection is in one place (cable). so unless you are
    going to lug a broadcast attenae around with you, its not that inconvenient.
    the only disadvantage is that the box requires an outlet.
