Sorry I missed the Live TV phrase in you first post. Since DVDs play fine
that eliminates the video card and the TV itself as the cause of the poor
quality. This leaves the TV Tuner/Video capture card as the likely culprit.
If you are using a Hauppauge card I understand that there is a registry
setting that can improve the encoding to a level about what is "best" in an
MCE system to what Hauppauge considers "Best" in its own PVR software. This
setting increases the storage requirement to 5GB an hour of recording. I do
not know the setting but another reader of this post may be able to provide
it.
