It's a reg patch on their site or here that restores the menu overlay in DVD
menus:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Filters\Video]
"DisableSubpictureOutputPin"=dword:00000001
Did you select 5.1 in Control Panel/Sounds.../Speaker setup/Advanced ?

There's more I believe; a stream splitter in there. I removed them all.

No, I prefer all of my codec's to be red ;-)

Damm, I have the same setup as you; same card; it's cheap but it did work.
Have you tried a roll-back with system restore to a more simple time? Or,
make sure you've the lates drive from SoundMax?

Pioneer have one but it's in the USD four figure range at the moment.
If you have $99 I'd go for this solution; I used the same config as you but
my receiver handles PCM, Dolby Dig. and DTS only. It took me a moment to
realize but when I played back the WMV hi-def demos I could here the sound
but not the voice... no center channel.
I've just had some great results on a couple of PC's using the External USB
SoundBlaster Audiology NX. I was fully prepared for failure but in the end I
skipped the SPDIF. I connected the external soundcard to the 5.1 seperate
in(s) on the receiver using really short cables and ran a longer USB to the
pc keeping the precious audio signal digital as far as I could. The
performance on the external card is stupendous; really low noise floor, no
interference and I get the rather dubious 2 to 5.1 channel upmix for music
and 2-channel source which, for general music listening creates a fuller
sound (I know, up to that point it was working, now I've just blown my hifi
enthusiast credentials!) and uses all channels of the amp.
eMPTy.
