The point of splits is so you can edit the captured video,
like removing or rearrange the clips, or applying
transitions at the split point.

The emuzed card captures directly to MPEG-2 format.
Capturing in DV-AVI format is not an option with that
card. Since DVD video is MPEG-2, you will get the
best results if you use a DVD Authoring program that
does NOT re-encode the video. Ulead DVD Movie
Factory, and TMPGEnc DVD Author are two such
programs. There may be others. Unfortunately neither
of those supports the DVR-MS format (if you care about
that.)
