u2jrmw,

I you plan to use a MC as your regular computer, then I will srongly suggest
you get a computer monitor, or aattach it to a monitor that support a VGA
resolution without underscanning/overscanning. Many modern digital TVs have
support for VGA ports or DVI imput with native support for 640 x 400, 1024 x
768, etc, depending on the aspect ratio, you may also find 852 x 480, etc.

If you plan to use a plain 1950 technology NTSC TV, then even when you can
make the font bigger, increase contrast, etc, but the results won't look as
good as they will on a computer screen, this is because the NTSC screen has
a much lower resolution and information is lost when converted down from
VGA.

The MC application is an exception, even though it suffers the same problems
described above, it has been designed and optimized to be watched on a TV
monitor, and this the font, the colors, contrast etc, has been specifically
tailored to minimized that effect and to present an nice feel when viewed
on a TV monitor.

If you plan to use your MC computer just as MC, for the 12 tasks you asked
advice on in a previous post, then you can safely connect it to your TV
using S-Video and you will not notice much degradation, and the MC
application will actually look good on your TV screen.

You can always use your MC through your TV screen for media purposes and use
it through remote desktop for other purposes.

Let me know if this answers your question.

BTW, your experiment is prefcetly valid, with the esception of the MC
application which will look much better.

Regards,

Luis
