I have the 5205-S705 and live in the US. However, upon reading the message
boards both here and at the old Toshiba Support Forum which is now
http://forums.compuserve.com/vlforums/default.asp?SRV=Toshiba&loc=us I
recall reading that the Toshiba laptops with MCE will only work in countries
other than the US when the software is upgraded to MCE2004 which was just
made available about 3 weeks ago. I installed mine and love it although I am
still not completely satisfied with the quality of the TV picture of the
Toshiba tuner. The picture quality improves slightly if the signal is
amplified prior to Toshiba input. I don't know if you can order the CD
upgrade in the UK but since you purchased the machine in America you should
be able to order it for $25 USD at http://www.mceupgrade.toshiba.com. If
they won't ship to you may need to have it shipped to a US address and have
that party forward it to you. Let me know if I can help.
