DVD auto resolution

I was just playing around with the bundled DVD player (InterVideo
WinDVD) that came with my RZ40CG Windows XP Media Center Vaio computer
and found an awesome feature. It automatically changes the output on
my TV to the correct viewing proportion while leaving the resolution
on my monitor at a higher resolution (i.e. 1280X1024). Upon further
investogation, I found the other 2 DVD players on my machine also
performed this feature: Real Player and Windows Media 'Player'.

However, when I use Windows Media Center, I need to change my
resolution to 1024X768 so the output on the TV is not cut off. It
would be a very convenient feature!

Is there anyway for media center to have the same dual resolution as
the other DVD players allow? Because Windows Media Player allows it, I
would think Media Center would too, but it doesn't as far as I can
tell.

Can anyone confirm or deny if Media Center can or cannot do this?

Thanks!
