A lot depends on where the scaling from 480i to the native resolution of the
high resolution LCD display occurs. If it is done using the PC video card
then the picture will be poor because the video card is designed to do the
best with text and graphics. On the othere hand if it is done in the HDTV
the picture will be much better because the upscaling is designed to try and
determine what color to display in the "missing" pixels. These upscaling
algorithims are very proprietay to the TV manufacturers and have imporved a
lot in the past couple of years. Maybe Robert with his technical expertise
can comment on this.
