Peter, I used to experience the same problem with my 873n. I contacted HP
and they had me reinstall some drivers - which I had done 1000 times before,
however their process was different and it fixed my problem. I haven't lost
TV sound since the end of November / beginning of December. Here is the
process HP support walked me through:

1) Go to device manager
2) Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section
3) Right click on each device and if the right click menu for the device has
an "uninstall" option, select it to uninstall the device and driver
4) Repeat this for each device under that section
5) Reboot

I was a little aggitated with HP when they walked me through this because I
had already reinstalled drivers many times over. I was certain the problem
would recur. I was wrong.
