Apart from remove the offending software and hoping it uninstalls properly,
without a system restore point (since you disabled that) you are left with a
recovery option. Depending on which manufacturer you got your PC from, they
should provide a way to restore individual applications but I don't think
the Media Center is part of that... so you might be left with restore the
entire system.
Another thing I'd try first... try re-installing the DVD software that came
with your MCE machine. Perhaps this will set things right.
