Hi John,

The GeForce is your Video Card, not your TV Tuner card. To find out which
tuner card you have you should look under "Sound, Video and Game
Controllers" in Device Manager.

Can you confirm that you have sound if you plug in the same cable directly
into a TV? (It's always good to eliminate possibilities, however remote).
Assuming you do get sound when connected direct to the TV, let's try other
things.

1. First of all, yes, I would re-run Windows Update (WU). It's good to
visit the Windows Update site on a regular basis... I am for weekly. Even
if you have Automatic Updates enabled, this will only tell you about
Critical Updates. The WU site will have non-critical updates that might be
important for you as well.

2. Does your Tuner card have multiple Coax inputs? Some Tuner cards have
both TV-in and FM-in inputs. Make sure you have the cable into the right
port. Also, some Video cards also have Coax outputs, this is also not what
you want (this port will be on the same slot as your monitor connector).

You mentioned the HP/GeForce... from what I recall most (all?) HPs have no
FM tuners and the GeForce doesn't have a coax, so you should only have a
single Coax connector... so I guess the above point is moot. :(
