It is as I feared. So far, OE6 is the only mail client that I don't have significant usage issues with, and Dragon Naturally Speaking has full support for OE. I have tried Thunderbird and Windows Live Mail and they are both difficult to operate with voice recognition software. I spent a great deal of time creating macros to overcome these deficiencies, but neither piece of software is really designed with voice recognition in mind, and the macros frequently do not work or produce unexpected results (this is not a problem I have seen in other major software).

With Windows Live Mail, it and DNS crash every time I issue a command to send or post a message, it loses messages and entire message archives, and has an exceedingly complex interface with way too much stuff it's trying to do. I just want to read and send news posts and emails, thank you. Just a buggy mess IMHO. Don't like how the interface looks when run under XP, but that would change for the better under Vista/Win7.

Thunderbird is not fully supported in DNS either. It has a rather complex filtering interface which I definitely do not like. And the complexity is magnified by the fact that you have to set up a separate set of filters for each account. I have allot of email accounts, each for various purposes, and my current filtering system moves messages from these into a large number of local folders. I'm constantly having to scroll up and scroll down to see all of my accounts and local folders. After a while your jaw aches and your voice cracks.

Guess I'll just have to stick with XP for a while longer so I can continue using my favorite email client.

1: Can't be done. OE was a part of IE6, (both part of the OS), and cannot be installed as a stand-alone program.

2: OE will work as a part of XP, but not Vista or Win7. You would need to keep XP on the machine and boot to that OS to use OE.
