Re: Please point me to better E-mail/News program

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thanks for your input PA BEAR.

I read your remarks to lean towards staying 'put' with both O.E. for WinXP
SP3 and Win Mail with Vista 64 bit Home Premium.

Seems to me the perusing the Vista mail newsgroup that there is an opposite
opinion with majority of posts from the 'Joe Average". <grin>

Could no help myself with the above quip.

[OE works just fine for me.]

OE & Windows Mail will be supported as long as the OS in which the
application's running is supported (e.g., if you're running WinXP SP3, OE
will be supported through 2014). Such support, however, is limited to
security-related vulnerabilities only and has been since June 2006 when
all further development on both applications was stopped. (Yes, while
Vista was still in beta. Go figure.)

Mail Clients which include newsgroup access and which are supported in
both OSS include Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, and Eudora (IIRC).

You'll find support for Windows Live Mail (WLM) in this public newsgroup:

From what I have been reading in this as well as Windows Vista, the O.E
and
Vista Mail are not well supported by Microsoft.

I did attempt to install Windows Live on my Vista Harddrive earlier this
morning and for whatever reason it choked and would not allow the
install.
<sigh>

Any assist for the MVP's would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
