Thanks, Michael, that's what I've been doing. Besides bugging the individual
that sends me the stuff to switch to a different email program, that is. It's
only happened on emails I've received from firefox users. Actually, he's trying
OE right now but doesn't like it. I'm trying to coax him to stay with it and at
least give it a fair trial. We can only hope. Of course, part of the problem
is people who are simply too lazy to copy and paste a URL or a few lines of
text, taking the lazy way and hitting the 'fwd' button, adding another layer to
the confusion. I have a personal rule, if it's more than 7 layers deep, it's
just not worth looking at!
Cheers,
jc

The issue you are running into is a message forwarded as attachment.
In OE this would be an EML file. The file name is the subject of the
forwarded message.
OE gives priority to the file extension, if present. If missing, then
OE uses the MIME type to determine the file extension.
The problem occurs when the subject ends in a period. That tells OE
that file is not to have an extension, rather than it is simply missing
and it will not use the MIME type to determine the file type.
What you need to do is save the attachment, then rename to add the EML
file extension. You'll then be able to open the EML file (it will open
in an OE message reading window) and proceed from there.
