I have pinged the address in both conditions and this confirms the

OE6 produces the error code 0x800CCC0D, suggesting that I have
incorrect addresses, protocols, ports etc but I have verified these
with the LAN admin and rechecked them several times.
The problem remained with the e-mail scanner uninstalled and the fire
wall disabled.
The LAN connection data was installed manually by their "technician"
on site and the whole thing was a bit of a stumble. Could there be
some inobvious settings left in place from the previous Dial-up
connection ?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
