Delete Files
Check size
Press Alt F F F
Check again.

The dbx file is always larger than the deleted items size since the minimum size with no messages in the folder is 59kb.

My Compact Check Count is 43.
I ran the exercise again.
Deleted deleted items.dbx.
Started OE.
Deleted 10443 kb of messages.
Checked file size @ 10443 kb.
Emptied Deleted Items.
Checked file size @ 10443 kb.
Closed OE.
Started OE.
Deleted 12215 kb of messages.
Checked file size @ 12215 kb.

At no time did a compaction occur.

Are you saying that you are not getting the same results?

Emptying Deleted Items on exit or user initiated obviously releases the
space in the deleted items.dbx file to be used again.
