Re: duplicate messages are downloaded

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

It downloads all but the last message?

Did you do this as I suggested?

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

If it still doesn't download the last message, it could be a corrupt message. Access your mail through your ISP's Website and read the message and delete it.

I am new to this, sorry I started a new thread. Thank you for the
instructions...I did what you said, and you said it would do it once more
then it should be ok. the problem now is, it will not download the last
message....it disconnects after five minutes of downloading one (the last)
message. Now what....
Thanks Bruce for your help

I thought you knew where it was since you said you already deleted it once.

Close OE and this is how you find the message store. Delete any file that is
named Pop3uidl.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder
location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the
location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write
the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer.

In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options
Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View.
