On the AT&T/SBC newsgroups there have been numerous reports of the
problem for a couple of weeks now. One person talked to AT&T support
and was told that they were unaware of the problem and that nobody had
reported any problems.

Thanks Michael. Yes the "tech" I spoke with had me do everything I
had
already done and then said I'd have to pay to get escalated
"software-related" help. Glad I came here instead.

people
you called didn't fess up.
A workaround is to turn off the SSL for the POP3 server until AT&T
gets
their act together.

I have OE6 and XP/SP2 with ATT DSL connection. My connection speed
to
net is
fine, but when I click "Send/Receive All", OE just crawls thru my
accounts
(Connecting, Securing, etc) so slow that sometimes it times out. I
called
ATT and all of my account settings are correct (they said). Any
troubleshooting tips for this? It started about two weeks ago with
no
connection to event that I can recall. I disabled email checking
in
my NOD32
AV and that didn't help. No software firewall.
TIA, Dave
.
