I thought the error message would be more specific and include your server.
Best guess right now. Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Some ISPs have changed the ports they use and also whether or not SSL needs to be checked. (Try checking, or unchecking it). What server do you use? I assume nsm.com is munged as I find no reference to it.
