Re: OE crashes when replying to certain messages

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hello

My outlook express crashes every day when I click on "Reply" for
certain messages - this affects only a tiny number of messages, mostly
from the same sender, and they always have attachments. However the
vast majority of messages from other senders with attachments I can
reply to with no problem, and many messages from this particular
sender I can reply to with no problem. I can view the message, open
it, and open the attachment(s), but as soon as I click "reply" it
crashes OE. A dialog appears, saying "Outlook Express has encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry the the inconvenience. If
you were in the middle of something, the information you were working
on might be lost. Please tell Microsoft about this problem." I had
been submiutting the error report every day (sometimes 3-4 times a
day) for more than 1 year. Needless to say it is very annoying. Now
it seems to be happening more often and it is interfering with my
work. The error signature is like this:
AppName: msimn.exe AppVer: 6.0.3790.1830 ModName: inetcomm.dll
ModVer: 6.0.3790.2929 Offset: 00000000000646a6

The only way I can actually reply to these messages is to "forward"
them, delete any attachments and paste the email address that I want
to reply to manually and change the "Fwd:" to "Re:".

To narrow down the problem I have tried creating a new folder and
putting only 1 of the messages which cause the crash into it, but the
same thing happens, so I don't believe it has anything to do with
large DBX files (which is what microsoft told me a few months ago).

I am using OE 6.00.3790.1830 (srv03_sp1_rtm.050324-1447) on windows XP
x64 edition Service pack 1 with all the latest patches and security
updates. I have up to date antivirus s/w and do a full scan often.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
