But: Word Pad does not use the phrase *Rich Text Editor*, and I have never used Word or an Office product.
A matter of terminology I would settle for.

New Message or Reply>Format>Rich Text (HTML) is how you access it under OE6.

I never heard of that as being refereed to as a *Rich Text Editor* in OE. Just a formatting change.

New Message or Reply>Format>Rich Text (HTML) is how you access it under OE6. Word Pad is another Rich Text Editor and MS Word recognizes the format.
Thanks for the reply.

What is a Rich Text Editor? It's not an Outlook Express option. Perhaps an MS Outlook component?
Outlook and Outlook Express are entirely different programs. You will get better help in an MS Outlook newsgroup:

Is there a way to set the rich text editor as the default for messaging. I'm getting tired of having to check it with every new message.
Thanks,
