I created a message rule that doesn't forward all of my
emails unless I read them first on my Outlook [Express] account.
Explain, please. Do you mean the rule won't forward messages unless you've downloaded them into OE? If so, WYSIWYG.

Is there a way to accomplish what I want? I need to be able to read the
messages that come into outlook on G mail before i read them on outlook.
Hope I am clear, slightly learning disabled but have been helped several
times by the great people here. Thanks again. Dorothy
