I believe you have it. MP3 is not supported by OE. MIDI and WAVs are, (maybe some others), but not an MP3.

Think I figured it from a similar problem I had a year or so ago ( I remember hearing in my sent Folder but no one else could), she was putting CD tracks, mp3s, as background music. I sent her some midi & wav files and they came through okay.
