Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

It may well be your news server, but uncheck Get XXX headers at a time. Then in Tools | Options | Maintenance | Clean Up Now, select the newsgroup(s) at the top, and then Reset. Follow up with Compact.

I seem to have a problem in that newsgroups don't get downloaded in there entirely.

i.e. I will see 1233 downloaded, 134 not downloaded.

I reset the newsgroup back to zero and even deleted the news group but still the messages won't download.

I will see only 1 message when I know there are more that that.

Is there some way to fix this problem?
