Re: PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Bruce

Thanks for the reply. It's my fault.
My question is about Explorer 6, but I posted this in the wrong discussion
group! I've reposted in the IE6 Discussion Group.

It's about UNINSTALLING 7 and getting back to 6.

Sorry for the confusion.

Please read this post from bottom to top to understand my problem.

This was the original post on the IE7 Discussion Board. (By the way, I
know
Ray has been helpful, but I need an answer right away because I'm working
from my laptop now and with my business cannot do that for too much
longer)

The bottom line is now that when I click the icon on my computer to go to
the internet, it’s blank!

When I click the Outlook Express icon on my computer to open it, it won’t!

I tried to install my Windows XP disk to download IE again, but it said
that
I need to install the SP2 disk also. I don’t have that!!!

All I wanted was someone to help me delete the IE7 that was still in my
Add/Remove section so that I could get back to IE6.

Help, please!

Again, please read from the bottom up

Hi Ray!

I did like you said and continued with the info below . . .

And now I CANNOT even open explorer on my computer.
I cannot get into Outlook express. I am sending this from my laptop
because
my main computer cannot even logon to the internet now!

When I restarted the computer, I received this first error message . .

ypager.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because iertutil.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

So I click OK.

I received this second error message . .

MSASCui.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because iertutil.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

WHAT HAPPENED???? And how do I fix it!

Please respond ASAP

HI Ray

I did what you said, but I did this . . .

%windir%\ie7updates\kb922880\spuninst\spuninst.exe

I got a message list of items that would be removed if I continued
including
some Security fixes for Windows XP.

So I didn't go any further. Should I go ahead and do it anyway?

That will remove the update for the product you no longer have.

Thanks Ray, but what is this going to do?
Remove the IE7 from my computer?

Sorry, I'm not very technical -- I thought the add/remove programs did
that.

Start - Run %windir%\ie7updates\kb922880\spuninst\spuninst.inf

Find (CTRL + F) "[Prerequisite]" and change it to "[PPrerequisite]", click
File\Save then File\Close

Start - Run %windir%\ie7updates\kb922880\spuninst\spuninst.exe

Hope this helps,
Ray

OK . . .

Maybe 2-3 months ago, my husband downloaded the IE7 Beta on my computer.
I
hated it right away and wanted to get rid of it and get back to IE6. I
contacted Microsoft and they walked me through removing the beta from my
computer. Well . . . it hasn't worked as fast since. I might as well be
on
dial-up!

So I went back the other day and looked in my Control Panel to add or
remove
files (since they told me they were gone) and there's something there
called
. . .

Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 - Software Updates
Update for Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 (KB922880)

When I click on it to remove it, I get an error message that says removing
it will not be good for my computer.

What can I do? I so not ready to go full-fledge to IE7. I have too much
to
do and cannot wait 5-6 seconds for a webpage to display.

Pam
