Re: Can't use URL/links from emails/news messages

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

See if any of the links below help fix the problem (assuming you are not using IE7 and if you are, you should advise of that):

Also might want to see this information from Frank Saunders, MVP-Outlook Express:

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

There was a time some months ago when I could see a link to a particular website I wanted to pursue, click on it, & go there immediately. No longer.
Now I must copy & paste to a separate browser window.

I've no idea what caused this change. Bug?Worm? or my own internet protection? Running XP-MCE & Trend Micro PC-cillin.

I have searched the menu dropdowns & cannot find any clue how to change this back.

BTW, links delivered in the Hotmail inbox work fine, just as always.
