Thanks; learned something today.

OE can read and properly display messages from Lotus Notes if they are
in standard MIME format.
The issue I was relating comes about because Lotus Notes uses a space
in the MIME Boundary string. That's legal, but unusual. When such a
message passes through the McAfee SpamKiller program it incorrectly
wraps the string at the space in the message header. Having done
that, the string doesn't match the boundaries later in the message. So OE
can't tell where the various message parts start and end and so
doesn't know how to display the message.
The message source is always readable no matter how mangled the
message headers.

Hmm, haven't seen Lotus Notes in so long I'd forgotten about it.
Would that be the case, even though the message can be read in
Message Source View (CTRL-F3 in OE)?
I was under the impression LN would mangle the mail, not prevent
displaying the body if the body exists in the received Message
Source? IME it's usually a text vs background color issue.
Please edumicate me?

Do you happen to know if she is using Lotus Notes as here e-mail
program? Sounds like you are using McAfee SpamKiller and it
corrupts MIME headers of messages from Lotus Notes, which can cause
your problem.
When you are looking at the Message Source for one of her messages,
the X-Mailer or User Agent header will identify the mail program she
is using.
For some details on the Lotus Notes and SpamKiller issue,
see the Problems and Complications section of

If you still have problems, and would like, you may send me one of
the
problem messages and I'll take a look at it. It's best if you zip
the
message so that I get an exact copy of it. To do that, do a File,
Save As to an EML file of a problem message. Then Right click the
saved EML file and select Send To, Compressed (zipped) folder. Then
e-mail me the resulting ZIP file. Alternately, you can do a
Message, Forward As Attachment of a problem message. This is not
as good as the zip file since the headers can be modified in
transit which may obscure the problem. A simple Forward is
worthless since it does not include the headers.

Emails from one of my daughters comes through with out any text. If
I
search
Outlook Express, FILE>PROPERTIES>DETAILS>MESSAGE SOURCE then I am
able to
read the message in the email. I can read the subject line where in
she now
shows short messages. No other emails are affected this way. She
uses
Java
Script and successfully emails both privately and to clients
without problems. I use McAfee internet security software package.
Her emails
are not
listed as Spam.
All settings appear normal. So far all requests for help have not
solved the
problem.
Any ideas?
