One ISP account > Two computers

Question 1
I have a desktop computer that is set up for the Internet and a mail account
(OE). I have a new laptop for which I have to do the same thing.

I think I first have to set up the laptop with the same master account
information from the Desktop's ISP. Then the next thing would be to set up a
mail sub account for the Laptop.

If that's correct, do I set up this sub account on the Desktop, or directly
on the Laptop? (account: different user name, different password).

Question: 2
When both computers used the same master account information during this
setup, does that mean each machine can go to directly to the internet or to
get mail, or do we need identity switching between accounts?

Question 3:
If I were using the internet to make comparisons on some information, could
I have both the laptop and the desktop connecting at the same time?

If you use a dial-up connection, you cannot connect both computers (on independent) phone cables at
the same time. Most ISP's will cut you off if you dial in two computers at the same time. This is
to prevent others from using your account. Of course you can create and pay for two accounts.

If you want both computers on-line at the same time, you will have to network them together. Use
ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) if you have a dial-up connection. Then both computers use the
modem in one of the computers.

If you use a broad-band connection, you need a router between the computers and the broad-band
modem.

With a network, both computers can use the Internet at the same time. However, the email is a bit
more tricky. You can have the same email setup on both machines, but one will always be picking up
the mail first and the other will not find any mail. Or if you leave mail on the server, both can
get it, but you will get a lot of duplicates. Two email accounts, or identities, works out better.

Now give us a few more details of your setup and we will give more details on how to do it.
