My ISP is SBC. I can receive messages but I am receiving duplicates and
triplicates. I don't know how to get to the server to remove the back log
of messages. Not knowing the check mark was in the "leave message on the
server" box I evidently have several thousand emails. After a crash I
missed several days worth of emails and I am trying to get those but in
the process I am getting several months back and as I said duplicates
when I i click send and receive. I would like to clear the server of all
but about a week back. Grateful for your help,

This is a pure guess try http://sbcglobal.prodigy.net/ log in with your
mail account and password.
Have fun deleting the Spam.
If this is the wrong sbc then some one over the pond had better step in,
as it is 2am here, I am off to bed :-)
