Try deleting the Outbox & Sent Items as previously discussed. After that, I may be out of ideas.

Bruce, I just turned AVG e-mail scanning back on & rebooted. Email is
working fine now. Guess I will have to uninstall AVG then reinstall to get
rid of e-mail scanning..
More concerned about the forwarding. Main priority.
