Re: POP-3 Incoming Mail Name replaced

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Tim,

It is possible that the behavior is caused by a component of your anti-virus
program. Knowing what kind of A/V program is in use might help in finding
an answer. Also helpful would be knowing if there is an associated error
message when using OE to send mail.

The number, 127.0.0.01, represents the local host, or PC you're using. When
filtering is used messages do not go directly to the mail client. Message
scan is not required to fully protect a PC -- and it often causes connection
problems when used with OE.

This is usually caused by scanning e-mail, or an anti-spam program.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant
layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

Every time I start Outlook Express my pop-server name is replaced by
127.0.0.1 I have to Accounts / Properties/Mail/ Servers and edit the
POP-3 Incoming Mail server name to receive mail. Anybody know what
causes
this and how I can fix it?
