Re: Unable to configure OE

What Frank said. Its probably your hotmail account. If you delete it then the error message should go away.

I am talking about OE. There is nothing I do to generate that error. I get that msg when I first open OE.

I have no idea what service you are talking about. What do you do to generate the error?

Hi Steve

I hope you can help me with an additional problem that I get. Often it says "This service does not work with Outlook Express". How can I correct the problem?
Thanks

It has nothing to do with the location of the message. The language attribute is set to show which language the parser should use. Javascript is the default. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/author/dhtml/reference/properties/language.asp

I think Jim was just complaining about the script being their to begin with.

I think Jim is referring to the script language in Ken's reply:

<SCRIPT language=javascript>
if (!ccTest('DH_FREE'))
document.write("<style>span.cc603622 {display:inline!important}</style>");
else document.write("<style>span.cc603622 {display:none!important}</style>");
</SCRIPT>

The script language is not needed in a newsgroup message.

Hi Jim

I am interested in knowing why scripting is bad. If it is, I need to ensure that it is disabled on my computer.
Thanks

Ken:

Please stop using that scripting example to post. You can take the text from any article and paste it into Notepad, then from there into your message. Scripting is disabled on many computers these days and all your reply does is throw up "scripting errors." HTML is really not needed for posting that information. Thanks.

Ben, the following from Hotmail Help....
Access your e-mail account from Microsoft Outlook Express
To protect our users from the increasing amount of unsolicited junk e-mail and spam sent from MSN Hotmail accounts through Outlook and Outlook Express, we have reluctantly had to restrict the new use of Outlook and Outlook Express to subscribers.
You can view your Hotmail messages in Outlook Express 6.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.. In Outlook Express, click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
2.. Click Add, and then click Mail.
3.. Type your full name, and then click Next.
4.. Type your full Hotmail e-mail address (name@xxxxxxxxxxx), and then click Next.
5.. In the My incoming mail server is a box, click HTTP.
6.. In the My HTTP service provider is box, click Hotmail, and then click Next.
7.. Type the password for your Hotmail account, and then click Next.
To help protect your privacy, don't select the Remember password check box unless you are the only person with access to the program.

8.. Click Finish.
