Re: PS Re: Newsgroup link won't open IE; OE link will

You could try reinstalling OE, but that's a pain if you have SP2. See the other thread you started and my response there.

PS No idea what this means, but ...

I copied your post and the last one with the register info in it, to my Inbox using right-click, Copy to Folder, and the links also do not work from there. However, links in standard received emails, including those moved to other folders, still work fine.
Maybe it's obvious to others, but that says to me it's not the way the newsgroups links are being SEEN, it's the way they're being interpreted and displayed - something's missing there.
If a new identity won't help, I'll start some source code comparisons; there HAS to be a solution!

Try reregistering OE via:

"C:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" /reg

and also try

regsv32 inetcomm.dll

And in Control Panel | Programs | Set Program access and
defaults, set OE default.

Also, if you have a NG message with a link such as
www.oehelp.com, then try saving it as a nws file and then
open it and see if the links work. If they don't rename
the file to eml and then open it and see if they work then.
