Are you using AVG anti-virus version 7? If you have installed the
e-mail scanning module of it, that can cause the mystery paperclips.

Let me say in advance that I am an 80 year old computer challenged
moron, maybe even an imbecile. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 desktop
with Windows Home Edition OS. My ISP is Wowway broadband. About 7
seven weeks ago most all of my Emails listed in the Outlook Express
"Inbox" started featuring a Paper Clip before the listing. When I
opened the Email there was no attachment(s), just the basic message.
In the 90-100 Emails I have received in the last 7 weeks only 3-5
actually had attachments. I have experienced no difficulty or
problems in creating, replying, forwarding, editing, etc. with any of
the Emails received. Occasionally, an Email listed in the "Inbox"
will be listed without a Paper Clip -- perhaps 3-4 in the last 7
weeks. I read Ted Koch's web page (Inside Outlook Express) and he
suggested that Windows Update 900930 was the antidote to solve the
errant Paper Clip problem. I checked to be sure that I had this
update. I did not so I installed it but, alas, the problem still
persists. I would appreciate any answers, ideas, suggestions.
Provide them in "a-b-c" mode as I'm at that stage in life where I
again move my lips when I start to read. Danke! Merci! Thanks! read
.
