No, I couldn't figure that out yet. I suspected there were some conflicts
among the registry keys. Anyway, since the fixup, IE6 and OE6 have been
working fine.
By the way, the identity problem below occurred on a different PC. Thank you
anyway.

Did you ever find out what caused the winsock2 problem?

I tried to add a new identity with a new account, but when I entered the
POP3 and the SMTP servers, I mistakenly enter the "@" sign instead of a
dot sign. Although OE warned me that the servers were invalid, I was just
too fast and saved the settings by mistake. Now when I start OE, it will
just hang.
1) How can I completely remove the invalid identity and the invalid
account and get back to the default one?
2) Is there any way of fixing the wrong names without deleting the
identity?
The PC is running Windows 98SE and IE has been upgraded to IE6 SP1
several
months ago. Please help!
