I was very glad too Tim, as this was the first time I'd ever edited the
registry as well. So, I'm quite proud of myself for being able to do that
and not mess it up. I really did appreciate your assistance with this.

Hi Tim,
After reading the article and following the directions letter for letter...
the error message is gone! Thank you so much for your invaluable
assistance.
This is my first experience with going to a 'newsgroup' and/or 'geeksite'
(No insult intended, and I'm honestly not sure which this one is). My
intention is just to let you know that I completely appreciated your
assistance and you made my first experience so easy.
Thank you!
Patti

You're welcome, Patti. These things can happen without any mistake by the
user. Thankfully, there is usually a remedy. With Office on hand you can
try
the fix given in the KB article.

As it is a bonifide purchase of MS Office it certainly shouldn't be a
corrupt
key, but I do appreciate your response, and I'll check out the article.
This
error code is really driving me batty. It's never happened before. I
don't
understand why it never happened on my PC but it's happening since my
stepdad
switched me to the laptop after my PC crashed. I just don't get it. I
know
that he unfortunately knows enough about computers to make him really
dangerous. I know enough about them to know when not to touch something,
without asking a question first (and I used to be a programmer a few years
ago in a totally different environment). :-)
Thank you again.

Hi Patty,

It would appear to be a corrupt Outlook Registry key, but I do not know
enough about the problem to recommend action. Here's a Microsoft KB
article
which describes a related issue.

The exact error message received twice at every boot up is:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client
cannot
fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it
as
the default mail client."

Outlook Express is "already selected" as my default mail handler yet
I'm still getting this message, hence, my question. Outlook, has
never been selected as my default. That's what my problem is... even
though I have OE6 selected, at bootup my laptop is telling me I have
to "select" Outlook as my default mail handler. My question is...
how do I get it to stop telling me this? Thank you for your
response.

Hi Patty,

A group for your version of Outlook would be a good place to ask
the
question. Is Outlook selected to be the default mail program under
Outlook Tools, Options, Other tab? This is specific to Outlook
2003,
it may not be the same for another version.

Everytime I boot up, I get a message that I have to set up Outlook
as my default mail account, that my current mail handler cannot
handle the messages. I've never received this before and I've
always had OE as my main mail account. I never use Outlook at
home.
I don't need all of it's business features and prefer OE6. Can
anyone tell me how to get rid of this error message that comes up
every time I boot up my computer? Thank you in advance for your
assistance.

What is the exact error message?
